Katie: I have a family friend who is an entomologist and when I was in college he explained to me how to check used furniture for insect infestations—look in the seams and see if there are eggs that have been laid there. I may have presented myself to be more of an expert on this than I actually am, but it was kind of a moot point because the seams were so full of cat hair I could not tell if there were also fetal bedbugs present.
